FAQ

A perfect introduction to the water, the Starfish class is designed for first-time swimmers ages 3 to 15 months. In this parent/tot class, an adult must accompany each baby or tot in the water, creating a fun and supportive environment for early aquatic exploration.

  • Water Comfort & Relaxation: Encouraging confidence and ease in the water.
  • Breath Control: Introducing the basics of holding their breath while submerged.
  • Group Participation: Engaging in fun, structured activities to build social comfort.

Does my kid need to bring goggles?

No, while nice to have, they do present a safety issue if they rely and depend on goggles to swim. For our introductory levels (Otter and Seal) we recommend not to have or bring goggles.

What factors are used to determine their level and progression?

Progress depends on factors such as age, independence, speed, and confidence.

Can I get a refund for missed lessons?

No, makeups are not refundable as they represent a class spot that was held for your child.

How long will it take my child to learn to swim?

Typically within a few lessons we see big improvements, but every child learns at a different pace. Our instructors will help build successful path for your child to get their first independent strokes per their skills and comfortably in the water.

What if my child is nervous about the water?

It’s completely normal for little ones to feel unsure in a new environment. Our instructors are experienced in gently easing children into the water through playful activities and gradual progression. We encourage you to take it at your child’s pace and communicate any concerns to your instructor.

What are Parent Tot Classes?

Parent Tot Classes are specially designed swimming sessions for infants and toddlers, where a parent or caregiver actively participates in the lesson. These classes focus on water acclimation, basic water skills, and building confidence in a safe, nurturing environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Babies can begin the Starfish class as early as 3 months old. At this stage, infant swimming lessons focus on water comfort and breath control rather than strokes, making early enrollment safe and age-appropriate.

Yes. EVO's Starfish class is a parent-tot swim class where a parent or caregiver joins the baby in the water for every session. The class covers water acclimation, basic skills, and parent-child bonding.

Both year-round locations in Gilbert and Mesa feature indoor, climate-controlled pools. Water temperature stays warm and consistent regardless of the season.

Bring a swim diaper, a towel, and a change of clothes for you and your baby. No goggles or special gear are needed for the Starfish level.

The Starfish class has a 12:1 student-to-coach ratio. Because a parent or caregiver is in the water with each baby, your little one has both professional guidance and your support at all times.

Once your child is ready, the next step is the Pufferfish class, another parent-tot level with an 8:1 ratio for ages 16 to 24 months. From there, swimmers move into EVO's entry-level classes like Otter and Seal.
