Placement depends on water experience, not just age. Swim lessons for preschoolers at EVO are tiered: a 3-year-old new to swimming usually starts in Otter, while a 5-year-old with comfort and basic skills could start in Seal or Sea Lion. EVO's class finder helps place your child accurately.
Yes. Four-year-olds typically swim in Seal or, with more experience, Sea Lion. Both classes are designed to match the focus and skill development that preschoolers at this age are ready for.
Five-year-olds are often ready for Sea Lion, where they start learning real freestyle and proper breathing. Less experienced 5-year-olds may still benefit from Seal first to build survival skills before stroke work begins.
Most preschoolers attending consistent weekly lessons show meaningful progress within a few months. Independent swimming usually develops between ages 4 and 6, depending on the starting point and consistency.
Yes. By the Otter level, children swim without a parent in the pool. Coaches handle the transition gently, especially for first-timers.
