Otter caps at three students per coach. Most other group lessons in Gilbert, Mesa, and Chandler run 6:1 or larger. At 2-3 years, that difference matters.
Coaches built for tears.
Tears are normal at this age. EVO's coaches are experienced in easing toddlers through the first few sessions, and most settle in within two to three lessons.
Indoor, year-round pools.
Arizona temperatures swing too hard for outdoor toddler lessons to work year-round. EVO's pools stay warm and consistent every season.
Two Classes for 2-3 Year Olds: Otter and Seal
EVO's toddler pathway covers two entry-level classes, each tuned to where your child is in their swimming journey.
Otter (Entry-Level, 3:1 Ratio)
The first class without a parent in the water. Otter focuses on water comfort, breath control, kicking, and face-in-water swimming. The 3:1 ratio gives close to one-on-one attention
The next step after Otter. Toddlers work on efficient swimming, rolling onto the back to breathe, and core water survival skills. Seal builds the foundation for safe backyard swimming.
Independence in the water. The biggest shift between parent-tot classes and Otter is swimming without a parent in the pool. Coaches make this gentle. Breath control. Holding breath and blowing bubbles, the foundation for every stroke. Kicking and floating. Basic movements that build into real swimming. Survival skills. Rolling to breathe and basic safety awareness are introduced in Seal once a child has Otter-level comfort.
"We've done 4 sessions so far, and I've seen a huge improvement! My daughter is excited to go to swim class every week. I'm glad she is being taught survival skills, too."

Your Questions, Answered
Yes. Two-year-olds typically start in the Otter class once they're ready to swim without a parent in the water. Younger 2-year-olds who are still adjusting can sometimes start in Pufferfish (parent-tot, 16 to 24 months) for a softer transition.
Three-year-olds are right in the heart of Otter's age range. Most children at this age move from Otter into Seal once they have basic breath control and face-in-water comfort.
Tears are normal at this age. Most children settle in within two to three lessons as the routine becomes familiar. Coaches are experienced in easing kids through that adjustment.
Otter is the first independent class with a 3:1 ratio, focused on water comfort and basic movement. Seal moves to a 4:1 ratio once your child has the basics, adding efficient swimming, rolling to breathe, and survival skills.
